The UCR School of Public Policy is hosting back-to-back seminars by public policy students Rafael Barrientos Posada and Joseph Anastacio (accompanied by a panel of speakers) as part of its Student Spotlight Series.
Posada is a first-year public policy major from Bakersfield, California. For his seminar he will cover the impacts and complexities of the drug war in America and Mexico.
Anastacio is a first year Public Policy major from Stockton, California. He has previously worked as a Constituent Service Fellow for a U.S House Representative, where he worked on various passport and immigration related cases. His seminar is about the plight of Afghan refugees.
Posada said, “I’m going to be going over the historical context for the current drug epidemic and war on drugs, exploring how the United States has been impacted in a multitude of sectors, such as health, economy, and politics.”
Anasatacio said, “I will be focusing on the active and escalating situation in Afghanistan, specifically surrounding refugees and increased displacement. Additionally, my panelists will be discussing their experience with these issues”
Posada’s seminar took place on Thursday, March 7th from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. Pacific Time, and Anastacio’s seminar was immediately after from 6:00 to 7:15 p.m. Both events were held at at the Glasgow Private Dining Room.
