Minor Requirements (Fall 2023 & Onward)
The new minor requirements for the 2023-2024 school year is seen below.
If you entered as a first-year incoming student during the 2023-2024 school year, you are automatically under the new curriculum as seen below.
1.
Lower-Division Requirements
3 courses - at least 12 units
The following 3 core courses are required of all students enrolled in the public policy minor. These courses can be used to satisfy college breadth requirements.
a) PBPL001 (Introduction to Public Policy Analysis)
b) PBPL 002 (Politics and Public Policy)
c) PBPL 004 (Ethics, Professionalism, and Public Policy)
2.
Upper-Division Requirements
7 courses - at least 26 units
a) PBPL 100A (Data Analysis for PBPL 1)
b) Public Policy Electives (5 courses required [at least 20 units]): PBPL 100B - PBPL 189
c) PBPL 191 (Seminar in Public Policy)
Which Catalogue Applies To Me?
If you entered as a first-year incoming student during the 2023-2024 school year, you are automatically under the new curriculum as seen above.
If you entered any years prior to Fall 2023 or were enrolled at another higher education institution, you can select either catalogue and complete its corresponding requirements.

The minor requirements for the 2022-2023 school year and years prior are seen below. The previous minor requirements for the previous years can be accessed here.

Lower-Division Requirements
3 courses - at least 12 units
The following 3 core courses are required of all students enrolled in the public policy minor. These courses can be used to satisfy college breadth requirements.
a) PBPL001 (Introduction to Public Policy Analysis)
b) 1 course chosen from: PBPL 002, ECON 003, POSC 010, POSC 015
c) 1 course from: PBPL 004, PHIL 002, PHIL 003, SOC 001, SOC 020

6 courses - at least 24 units - chosen from two tracks
Minor Declaration

For reference, in order to declare the PBPL minor you must have completed PBPL 001 with a grade of C or higher AND have an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher.
