On May 22, 2023 the UCR School of Public Policy, in collaboration with the Associated Students of UCR (ASUCR), will be hosting a public health panel from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at HUB 379.

Titled “Making a Difference: the Social Impact of Public Health,” this event will feature a panel with Kim Saruwatari, Director of Public Health for the County of Riverside, and Dr. Richard Carpiano, Professor of Public Policy at UCR, as well as four student panelists. The panel will be followed by an audience Q&A.

“I really hope to engage with students both within and outside of the School of Public Policy in an attempt to gauge interest in the field of public health, as many pre-med and pre-health students are unfamiliar with the opportunities the field provides,” said Leila Haidar, ASUCR President's Executive Fellow and emcee for the event. “More specifically, following the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen the integral role public health professionals play in our society, and this event will hopefully serve as a great opportunity for students to understand the social impact of public health, and hopefully walk away with a better understanding of the field and resources to learn more and get more involved.”

Attendees can register for free for the in-person event here: ucr-public-health.eventbrite.com. For more information, please contact spp@ucr.edu
