On Wednesday, February 24th, the UCR School of Public Policy will be hosting a virtual seminar on “The Role of Public Policy in Challenging Times: An Introduction to APPAM,” by Tara Sheehan, executive director of the Association of Public Policy Analysis & Management.

According to her profile, “Sheehan has served as the Executive Director of the Association since 2010. In this role, she is the Chief Operating Officer and oversees all programs, services and the strategic direction for APPAM.”

APPAM is an American organization dedicated to improving public policy and management by fostering excellence in research, analysis, and education.

“I’m looking forward to speaking to students about public policy research and the role of organizations like APPAM in making sure sound research and data are the basis for all our public policies,” said Sheehan.

“I’m excited to learn more about innovative practices and policies necessary to address some of our current societal challenges,” said Daisy Gonzalez, a fourth year public policy student.

This event is open to the general public. Attendees must register to attend. Registrants will receive an email in advance of the event with a link to join.

Since 2014, the UCR School of Public Policy Seminar Series has been bringing policy makers, practitioners, and researchers to campus to talk about various policy issues facing the region and beyond. During the shelter-in-place order for California, all events are being held online. For more information about the series, visit spp.ucr.edu/events.
